We met Dennis at the house site and marked the area to be excavated for the basement. We also shot some grades using Mike's theodolite. Here, Dennis shows Louise the grades on the basement plan.

We have a detailed external services plan to show where things like telephone, satellite TV, driveway water and lights, and observatory power and connectivity enter the house. Everything runs in conduit or pipe beneath the basement slab, and turns upward at various locations inside the basment.

We're installing the driveway and observatory services ourselves, so we are now proud owners of 1100 feet of 1" black plastic water pipe, plus two dozen 10-foot lengths of gray electrical conduit. We pre-assembled sections at home to reduce on-site work, and delivered the pipe to Dennis.

The foundation is dug and has gravel and piping for the geothermal HVAC system installed.

Here's daughter Michelle strolling around the basement hobby room area, wondering where will be the bedroom she'll use when she comes home from college. The front door on the main level will face the tree behind the car.
